The Syntopix vision is to create a range of new antimicrobial opportunities that target three distinct markets in the next three to five years:
Many consumer healthcare products rely on antimicrobial solutions and the Syntopix approach provides novelty in many of these areas. For example, the global anti-dandruff shampoo market is estimated to be worth $20 billion whilst oral healthcare generates over $24 billion in sales per annum.
Globally the prescription dermatology market is worth around $16 billion with sales for topical medicinal acne products exceeding $2.5 billion. Cosmetic acne product sales are currently in excess of $10 billion.
The market for the topical treatment and prophylaxis of S. aureus infection and carriage is approximately $0.5 billion and is predicted to increase, partly in response to the awareness of MRSA as a community pathogen.
